Sages and Sacred Books on Karma

We can change our destiny by performing righteous actions, words and thoughts. In this respect, "Yoga Sutras," the famous treatise on yoga written by the sage Patanjali, says: "The future suffering can and must be avoided."

The Vedas -sacred literature of Hinduism- command "Satyam Vada, Dharmam Chara" -"Speak the truth, do your duty according to the Divine Law." This is the way to God. Doing your duty means to generate positive thoughts, speech and actions. This is behaving in a most perfect way.

As sage Yajnavalkya says in the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad -sacred book of Hinduism: "What becomes of this man? Indeed, a man becomes good by performing good deeds and evil by performing evil deeds." You are the architect of your fate.

Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, great Indian sage (1836-1886), said: "Through the practice of spiritual discipline one attains perfection, by the grace of God. But one must also labor -carry out righteous deeds, thoughts and words. Then one sees God and enjoys bliss."
